Then last week Bob welcomed his first grandbaby. Isabella was born on July 22nd, weighing in at a very tiny 5 lbs 10 oz. A new baby can even melt a grown mans heart!

We've been busy having babies over the last couple of weeks. First the newest addition, my fifth grandbaby and 4th boy Luke arrived on July 7th. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 2 oz. and is adorable of course. Here is a recent picture his mommy sent of him, oh so precious. They live out of state and I get to go see him next week, I cannot wait!

Headbands
Okay, I mentioned that I was sewing a lot this weekend. So here are the headbands I made. I got the tutorial from Oh so happy together. They whipped up fast, I mean like less then 30 minutes. I used scrap fabric so it was pretty much a free project. Cannot complain about that, huh?! I think I will have a lot of girls in the family that will like these.
Apron Weekend
It's been a while since I've made aprons. But I decided to make an apron for my daughter in laws sister. She also recently had a baby and I am sending her some baby pants, shoes and bibs. She lives in England and I thought it would be nice to send her a little something from home. So I made this yesterday.
Then I decided I needed to make myself one! I made a bunch last Christmas and the only one I had made for me was the first one I made and it has a lot of mistakes. It was my first effort as sewing in over 20 years. So now that I am much more confident it was time to make one that I am not embarrassed to show anyone. I have had this Michael Miller fabric for a while now I just hadn't gotten around to making it. So...here it is, yes my 'bathroom' picture. I should have had my 'man' snap a picture for me, but I decided to just do it myself. I am happy to say it is also smaller since I have lost 40+ pounds since I first made them. Unfortunately you probably cannot see it behind this apron!

New baby
Well he finally arrived, my newest grandbaby. Luke arrived on July 7th and he is adorable. I have been having fun sewing some really cute things for him. I made some baby pants that I found a tutorial for on Needles ad Spatula and some matching shoes that I found on Made by Rae.

Sunday drive....
Today we took a drive to just enjoy the day. We drove up the 210 Fwy to Hwy 126. Have you even taken that Highway? It is a really beautiful drive. A lot of the produce in California is grown in this region. It was so nice to enjoy the green all over. I sure do appreciate the simpler more peaceful life they live. We stopped in Fillmore where they have a cool train that goes from there to Santa Paula. They even have a train museum. My grandson would just love to ride this train. Maybe when he comes to visit sometime we can take him.
This is a lot of what you see on the drive.

We continued down the road to Ventura where it was very cool and breezy. The temps were in the high 60's.
The we headed to the Oxnard Farmers Market and got some fresh produce.
Then we headed down Hwy 1 all the way through Malibu to Santa Monica. My goodness I think everyone in Southern California went to the beach today. I didn't have my camera to take a picture but this pretty much shows what the beach looked like. Even with temps in the 60's it was very crowded. Lucky we were going south because the traffic northbound wasn't moving.
Finally we got onto the 10 Fwy and headed home, back to where it was closer to 100 degrees, and that was at 3:00PM. We had a Tri Tip steak marinating in the frig waiting for us. So after a long day of sightseeing it was nice to come home and relax, have a glass of wine and enjoy home sweet home. While the steak was cooking I snapped a few pictures of the prettiness in the backyard. My plants are in full bloom and really looking beautiful.
And then there is that beautiful peach tree of my neighbors. A lot of the branches are hanging over our fence. I've heard that anything on your property is yours for the taking.
Here is just one small bunch of peaches hanging over the fence. Beautiful! Peach cobbler anyone??

Burlap, burlap and more burlap
There are so many great idea's of what to make with burlap. Here are a few that I especially liked.
Here are some using a combination of burlap and drop cloth
I could go on and on....but you get the idea.
